We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Food Safety & Quality Assurance Supervisor for a food distributor in The Bronx, NY to lead their quality assurance initiatives within a manufacturing environment that support the effective implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS). This pivotal role ensures that all products meet stringent safety, quality, and regulatory standards, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of food safety management systems, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, driving excellence across production processes. This position offers an opportunity to influence product integrity, uphold consumer trust, and support operational excellence.

Monday-Friday, start time 3am

Salary starting at $80,000, commensurate with experience

What you'll do:

• Develop and implement local site documents with direction from direct supervisor.
• Interact with USDA/FDA/shellfish inspectors to ensure ongoing compliance with federal regulations along with timely resolution of deficiencies as needed.
• Support facility compliance to policy and regulations through onsite monitoring and/or verification activities.
• Ensure regulatory inspections (Pre-operational, Operational, CCP, temperature, etc.) and records are being conducted as required and perform reviews.
• Support new vendor approval with direction from direct manager.
• Create a schedule of internal audits, lead or support execution of internal audits, track findings and ensure closure of corrective actions in a timely manner with direction from direct manager.
• Maintain readiness for Third Party audits and Regulatory inspections.
• Ability to develop training schedule with direction from manager and perform Food safety and Quality Management training per schedule
• Investigate, log, track, and trend customer complaints. Implement Corrective actions where required.
• Support collaboration with organizational leadership in the establishment of quality assurance objectives on an annual basis.
• Provide FSQA support to internal projects with implementation of required standards (e.g. new items, new equipment installation, etc.)

About you:

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field or equivalent food processing experience perferred
• 3+ years of quality assurance with progressive experience in perishable food manufacturing highly preferred, seafood in particular.
• Knowledge of food compliance regulations, FDA regulations, GMP's, food safety audits, process procedures and documentation. GFSI audit experience highly preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• HACCP certification required. xhyhwjd Seafood HACCP certified preferred or ability to gain certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to work in a cold environment

• Bilingual Spanish greatly preferred
